Warrick Co. jail inmate found dead inside cell

Posted: Updated:

Indiana State Police are currently investigating the death of a Warrick County jail inmate.

Officials say 37-year-old James Pyott of Evansville was found unconscious in his jail cell around 10:00 on Sunday night.

Jail personnel and EMS attempted to revive him, but were unsuccessful. Foul play is not suspected.

Pyott was incarcerated on June 4 for theft and was being held on bond.

"People are people. Everybody makes mistakes, and you don't like to see something like this happen to anybody. Our sympathy definitely goes out to the family of this individual," Warrick County Sheriff Brett Kruse says.

The sheriff says a chaplain will be available at the jail on Monday.
