Police say the shooting death of an Evansville woman found by her family in her apartment on Thursday morning is being investigated as a homicide.
Coroner Annie Groves confirmed to 14 News that 46-year-old Angie Dixon died from a single gun-shot wound inside her apartment at the Arbors at Evansville.
Groves would not give us any other information, and Evansville police say their investigation now turns to whatever gun may have fired the fatal shot.
Sgt. Jason Cullum says the question is whether a gun was found inside this apartment, or if the gun is somewhere else which would point to foul play.
Police found signs of a struggle, a shell casing, and blood near Dixon's body. She was found around 11:00 Thursday morning by a family member and police say they're studying evidence to figure out what they've got.
Information gathered from the scene and the autopsy led investigators to believe Dixon's gunshot wound was not self-inflicted.
