MAUMEE, OH (Toledo News Now) -

A Waterville man accused of killing his neighbor was arraigned by video in Maumee Municipal Court Tuesday morning.

Investigators say Ronald Rooker shot and killed James Safadi, 34, last month.

A judge set Rooker's bond at $5 million, and ordered him not to be allowed to carry weapons or leave Lucas County.

Some of Safadi's friends were in the courtroom, and say they are not satisfied.

"I know his whole family. His whole family is really good people. It's a sad thing. I just hope they find some justice for him and they catch the other low-life scums that did this. I just hope justice is served," said Brandon Stein, a friend of Safadi.

Stein has known Safadi for more than a decade. He says the loss of a good friend is hard to deal with and knowing that his alleged killer lived right next door is mindboggling.

"It's a sick world out here nowadays. It's disgusting. You can't even trust your own neighbors, and this guy lived next door to him. Like, what is this world coming to?" said Stein.

Stein says there are a lot of questions he wants answered because he cannot understand why anyone would want to kill his friend.

"He was a good guy. He was always helping people. If you were short on change at his store that he ran, he would take care of you," explained Stein.

Rooker's preliminary hearing is scheduled for June 13.

A second suspect, James Allen, has been arrested in the murder. Officials at the Lucas County Sheriff's Office say they are currently looking for two more suspects in the case.

Safadi was shot three times: once in each leg and once in the chest. His girlfriend told police three males broke into their home, stealing an undisclosed amount of money and a ring off her finger. According to a source close to the investigation, seven handguns were also stolen, along with a large amount of ammunition.
