OWENSBORO, KY (WFIE) - It's a big weekend for Owensboro as officials get ready to officially open the new hospital on Pleasant Valley Road.
According to the hospital, the move starts Saturday morning around 8 a.m.
Current patients will be transported by ambulance and an Owensboro Health nurse will be on board with each of them.
The hospital says that teams of nurses will be at both locations to send and welcome patients and their families.
Until everyone's been moved, both hospitals will be fully staffed in the event of an unexpected emergency.
After 6 a.m. Saturday, you should come to the new hospital for any maternity or emergency services.
If you come to the Parrish Campus, officials say you'll be redirected to Pleasant Valley Road.
No elective surgeries will happen until after June 2nd.
Only emergency surgeries will be performed as needed.
Hospital staff say their number one priority is to move all patients safely and comfortably Saturday morning.
Current patients should look over their packet with details about the move.
According to hospital officials, you'll be limited to one guest on Saturday, and they'll receive a name badge for the move.
Guests are also encouraged to use the free shuttle service to the new hospital.
Even though the move officially starts at 8 a.m., patients will be moved according to the department that they're in right now.
