Sitco sends 2nd truckload of supplies to help OK tornado victims

Posted: Updated:

The Tri-State is coming together to support the victims of the Oklahoma tornado.

A local business has been collecting items for the past week, and on Monday morning a truck load full of donations left for the Sooner State.

Since last Tuesday, Sitco employees and people from the community have collected enough donations to fill up not one, but two 53 foot trucks.

The first truckload has already made it there and back, and at 8:00 Monday morning the second truck, full of everything from food and cleaning supplies to furniture and bikes, shipped out.

Waylon West organized the effort and he says he knows these donations are going to people who truly need them.

"It's a little town just south of Moore City called Bethel. It's a neighborhood that hadn't had any kind of donations or anything at this point and everything we're taking down there goes straight to them," West says.

Tony Lord volunteered to drive the truck with out a moment's hesitation.

"It gave me goose bumps because I wanted to do something, and I'm not a rich man so the best thing I could do was donate my time. I didn't even ask my boss before I said yes," Lord says.

The truck should make it to Oklahoma by about 6:00 Monday night.
