New zip line park opens in Perry County

Posted: Updated:

A new zip-line park just opened up in Leopold, which is just north of Tell City.

After opening just a week ago, the park is already gaining a lot of attention.

There are eight lines at Eagles Wings Zip Lines in Leopold, and 14 News reporter Nick LaGrange got to ride three of them, including an 1,100 foot behemoth called Soaring Eagles.

"I just felt like this is something that I should share with everybody," says Dale Sprinkle.

Eagles Wings Owner Dale Sprinkle is from Perry County, and says he decided to bring zip-lines to Leopold after spending some time in St. Martin, near the Virgin Islands.

"When we toured the zip line over in St. Martin, it was fun, it was exciting, and I fell in love with it," says Sprinkle.

Eagles Wings has eight different lines and offers three different park tours ranging from $40-$85.

Sprinkle says they have scrutinized every aspect of the park, to make sure everything is safe.

"We're getting ourselves ready for volume and we're real close to being able to handle the volume. So, we've been working diligently since last August when we bought the property," says Sprinkle.

He says they've already booked several tours of the park ad since you won't find any other zip lines nearby, there's a good chance this place will become very popular.

"There's one in, about ten miles north of French Lick, which is in Shoals," says Sprinkle. "This would be the closest one to Evansville."
