Those who knew the victim of a deadly shooting in Princeton speak out to 14 News about the struggles they say she had with the suspect.

Authorities tells 14 News the suspect, Jason Perry is in the Gibson County jail awaiting a probable cause hearing Thursday.

It was shocking. A mother, who was taking her son to lunch to celebrate his graduation is gunned down right outside the busy restaurant.  Just as shocking is that friends who knew the victim well say what happened on Wednesday was not unexpected.

James Price was not only one of the victim's best friends, he was her manager at this Casey's General Store in Princeton.

"She had planned this two weeks ago to be off for 8th grade graduation. She was actually going to enjoy the day and enjoy her kids for the rest of the week," Price says.

But authorities say she was shot and killed in the parking lot right outside the restaurant. The shot, authorities believe, fired by the on again/off again boyfriend of the victim and the father of that teenager.

"He eyewitnessed it, but I think they said when he heard a shot, he ran, ran inside," Price says.

Price says, on Wednesday, the woman came to him to talk about her relationship and its on-going struggles.

"She was worried about what he's going to do because he just kept calling her and kept texting her and she absolutely refused to talk to him anymore," Price says.

Fearing the worst, Price says he and the other workers here urged her to get help and protection.

"I wish we could have did something more about it on our end. We wanted to so bad," Price says.

Price says the suspect was insecure even jealous. He says the suspect just recently got out of jail and since then has been coming into his store to talk.

"He expressed his feeling on her, how he felt about her and just certain things he was upset about," Price says.

The identity of the victim still has not yet been released. Perry is facing a murder charge.  A probable cause hearing is scheduled for Thursday.
