A woman has been arrested after she allegedly locked her four young daughters out of their home for days at a time.
People who live at the small trailer park off of Jefferson Street in Baker said last Friday evening police swarmed the home parked on lot six.
"We were leaving and saw like three cops walking up to that trailer across the street," Savita Baggett said.
Baggett and some of her neighbors said they witnessed Danielle Kinchen, 25, being arrested. Baker Police took Kinchen into custody for allegedly deserting her four young children, ages 7, 5, 3 and 1. Officers responded after they said they got reports that the children had been locked out of the house for three days, were dressed in the same clothing, and one of them had spent the night on the front porch.
Trailer park resident Ryan Hanchett said he saw the arrest coming.
"This has been going on since it's been real cold out, and I've personally seen them huddled up on the front porch under a blanket trying to stay warm because their mother won't let them in the house," Hanchett said.
"I don't see any parents outside. I just see them running and playing, not thinking they are supervised," Baggett said.
A woman who told 9News she is Kinchen's sister said her neighbors' stories are fabrications.
"Everybody around here lied. There's nothing to tell," the woman said.
Kinchen, who has bonded out of jail, refused to talk to 9News. But according to the police report, she told officers her house is dirty because she is sick of cleaning it and she locked her kids outside because they are bad.
Residents said the children are not disobedient, only neglected.
"I've seen some terrible parents in this state since I've been here but this one really takes the cake," Hanchett said.
Baker Police Department records show Kinchen was arrested on April 21, 2013 for simple battery.
The owner of the trailer park, Jim Miley, said he plans to evict Kinchen.
