HARRISON COUNTY, IN (WAVE) – North Harrison High School was placed on lockdown Monday morning after a deadly shooting nearby, according to Indiana State Police.
An ISP spokesperson said the Harrison County Sheriff's Department received a 911 call at 9:25 a.m. indicating a man had been shot at 1365 State Road 64 in Ramsey. An ISP trooper was nearby and responded to the scene. When he arrived, he found a woman on the front porch and a man inside the home with an apparent gunshot wound. First responders were called to the home, but the victim died of his injuries at the scene.
Police said no one is at large, but an arrest has not been made. A neighbor reported seeing a woman in handcuffs at the scene.
Despite ISP's claim that nearby North Harrison High School went on lock down after the shooting, North Harrison Community Schools superintendent John Thomas said the school did not elevate security because it remains on lock down at all times, requiring locked doors, identification for entry into the school and police on campus every day.
