First ever Bug Fest a hit at Wesselman Woods

Posted: Updated:

It was all about bugs Saturday at the Wesselman Woods Nature Center as the Nature Society hosted its first ever Bug Fest.

Those attending got to see all kinds of caterpillars, bees and spiders. They even got the chance to taste dry roasted crickets and cricket bread.

Organizers said the event helps kids and adults learn to appreciate insects.

"We want to get people to realize that maybe they should look before they squish. So, it's just a chance to talk about one of the most important types of animals that exist," said Dr. John Scott Foster, the Executive Director of Wesselman Nature Society.

We're told that Wesselman plans to hold the event again next year.
