The third through fifth grade students from Brumfield Elementary will be enjoying a new school and a new playground next year.
Kelly Dillon, the manager of external affairs at Toyota Indiana, made a special visit to Brumfield's fifth grade graduation this morning. Dillon presented Brumfield with a $20,000 grant to fund a new playground outside of the newly renovated Lowell North Elementary School building. The playground, which will also include a fitness section, will be used by both the students and the members of the community.
"It's important that we emphasize the importance of a healthy lifestyle to our students and to our community," said Lisa Reynolds, a member of Brumfield Elementary School's Parent Teacher Organization. "We want to spread the word. Let's get healthy. We are so excited and we are so thankful that Toyota thought that our cause was worthy enough for them to pledge this level of support to it. A simple thank you is just not enough."
The installation process is set to begin in the beginning of July and it is expected to be completed before the students return to school in September.
