Henderson schools on lockdown while police search for missing inmate

Several Henderson County schools are on lockdown as police search for a missing inmate.

Henderson Police say the following schools have been placed on modified lockdown:

  • Henderson High School
  • North Middle
  • South Middle
  • East Heights Elem.
  • Jefferson Elem.
  • South Heights Elem.
  • Central Academy

HPD says they are on the lookout for Nicholas Christian. Police say Christian was working at the jail garden and walked off.

Officials say he was last seen along the riverfront in Henderson.

Police say he is a non-violent offender and is in jail on a contempt of court charge for drug court violations out of Henderson Circuit Court.

HPD describes Christian as a white male, around 5'7" and 170 lbs, with brown hair. Police say he was last seen wearing blue jeans and a white t-shirt.

Authorities say KSP, Henderson police, and a Sheriff's Office K-9 unit are looking for him in the 600 block of Clay Street and near the Warm Center on McKinley street.

Warrants are currently being obtained for Christian's arrest.
