Everyday heroes will take center stage in Owensboro today.

The Red Cross Heroes Luncheon starts at 11 a.m. and will be held at First Baptist Church located on J.R. Miller Boulevard.

This year's guest speaker also made an appearance in Evansville last night.

New York Times best-selling author Michael Hingson will share his story of triumph, trust, and teamwork.

Hingson's been blind since birth, but survived the 9/11 attacks on the World Trade Center with the help of his guide dog, Roselle.

Organizers say Hingson's story of survival and escape will show people how they can be better team players and builders.

As attendees celebrate heroes, they'll learn some lessons that apply to their home and work lives to help build stronger relationships.

Hingson's spoken to several groups around the world, including the American Red Cross.

If you're attending today, you're asked to enter on the Second Street side of the church.
