OWENSBORO, KY (WFIE) -

Around 1:30 Thursday morning, the Owensboro Police Department responded to an armed robbery call at the Hampton Inn, located at 615 Salem Drive.

Responding units spoke with the desk clerk, who advised that a male subject entered the business armed with a rifle, and demanded money. After an undisclosed amount of money was given, the subject fled on foot.

An Owensboro Police Department K-9 unit performed a track of the suspect, which led units to
the area of Chuck Gray Court. A traffic stop was performed on a vehicle in the area, and the suspect was taken into custody without incident.

25-year-old Mark Butler, of Owensboro, was lodged in the Daviess County Detention Center on charges of 1st degree robbery and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
