The Setup: An upper-level heat ridge moved from the center of the country into the eastern half of the US on Wednesday. This promoted more sunshine than clouds and quite a bit of warm air in many places.
As of Wednesday night, a weak area of low pressure is spinning in eastern Texas and slowly moving our direction. However, the high pressure ridge will play a role in weakening the system to our west. So, even though there will be a few more clouds around on Thursday, Friday and into the weekend, this high pressure ridge will keep a good amount of warm air around and some sunshine around for us.
Thursday: Partly Cloudy. Highs will climb into the middle-upper 80s in the Upstate & NE Georgia with upper 70s and low 80s in Western NC. We will likely have a few, isolated storms, but the odds favor your town staying dry.
Friday: Expect the same situation Friday as far as an isolated storm chance, but there may be a few more storms. Highs will go down a few degrees. Middle 80s will be common for Upstate towns with highs close to 80° for Western NC towns. Expect a mix of sun and clouds on Friday.
