Fundraiser to benefit Evansville readers

The Literacy Center announced that they will host the 3rd Annual Golf for Literacy Golf Scramble. It's be held on Friday, May 17, 2013 at Cambridge Golf Club.

The scramble was created in 2010 as a way to raise awareness about the adult literacy needs of the Evansville community and the services provided by the Literacy Center.

The scramble will begin at 11:30 a. m. with a lunch and will have a shotgun start at 1:00 p.m.  The event will include a putting contest, as well as many other signature contests on the course.

All funds raised from the event will assist the Literacy Center in their mission to help individuals in the community learn to read.

In the U.S., 40 million people over age 16 don't read well enough to fill out a job application or read a newspaper story written at the eighth grade level.
