Elementary school teachers are being encouraged to keep their students active in the classroom.
Some teachers attended a workshop this week where they were taught how to blend learning with psychical activity.
Fourth graders at Barton Township Elementary School got out of their seats to play a guessing game and to practice their spelling words. Classroom activities help to keep students focused on their school work and they may even help them to get better grades.
The students love it and so do the teachers.
"You know on a test day, kids are going to be sitting for a good half hour," says Diana Cox. "They need a way to get up, stretch, relax, and this is a fun way to do it."
It seems that the kids don't even realize they are learning while they are playing.
