It's the first day of the International Bar-B-Q Festival in downtown Owensboro.
A lot of the early set-up will take place near the courthouse on Frederica Street before all the action gets started later today.
More than 80,000 people are expected to attend the festival this weekend.
The cooking teams will be vying for the best chicken, mutton, and burgoo, as well as the coveted "Governor's Cup" for the best overall Bar-B-Q cooking team.
According to organizers, more than 10 tons of mutton, 1,500 gallons of burgoo, and 5,000 chickens will be prepared and sold during the festival.
The concessions open up later this morning at 11 a.m. on 2nd Street and the carnival rides start around 5 p.m.
This afternoon's opening ceremonies take place at 4:30 p.m. on the Family Stage.
Tonight at 6 p.m., you can check out the Bar-B-Q Fest Party by the Park, which includes live music, at the Riverpark Center.
Just as a reminder, the Daviess County Fiscal Court Administrative office will stay open until noon today.
All other offices within the courthouse are closed.
