Aztar blue jeans benefit Ronald McDonald House

Posted: Updated:

Casino Aztar chose Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Ohio Valley for their charity of choice during the month of April.

Employees were given the opportunity to wear jeans to work April 17th and 25th if they made a donation.

They raised $465 and Casino Aztar matched the amount for a total of $930.

Casino Aztar will present pop tab donation and a check to Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Ohio Valley in the amount of $930.00 Wednesday, May 22, 2013, 2:30 P.M. at Ronald McDonald House located at 3540 Washington Ave. Evansville, Ind.

All proceeds go straight to Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Ohio Valley in Evansville.

Since the House opened in January 2010, Casino Aztar has raised more than $6,300 to benefit RMHC.

Angela Patton, Community Relations and Service Manager, recalls, "As a volunteer at the Ronald McDonald House I personally see the significant impact the facility has on the lives of the families and the warm and friendly atmosphere the house provides.

Our Team Members at Casino Aztar chose to donate their Jeans Days cash contributions to the Ronald McDonald House of Evansville.

In the past we have had Team Members serve meals to the families staying at the Ronald McDonald House, as well as collecting the pop tabs and soda cans.

Each month our Team Members choose to support a different non-profit organization with the Jeans Day cash donations.

Team Members pay $3 to wear jeans on the days of the event and Casino Aztar matches their contributions. The Team Members enjoy getting to wear jeans to work and supporting the organizations in our community."

The local Ronald McDonald House serves an average of 1,000 families annually with an average length of stay of eight days.

The facility, on Washington Avenue next to St. Mary's Medical Center, opened on Jan. 18, 2010.

It supports the families of children receiving medical treatment at area hospitals and medical facilities, with a primary focus on the families of neonatal, pediatric and intensive-care patients.

The nonprofit was honored by the American Hospital Association in 2012 for being an exceptional partner in the delivery of health care services, a testament that RMHC is part of the continuum of care that facilitates improved outcomes for children.
