The Daviess County Detention Center has received funds to prevent sexual attacks among inmates.
The $100,000 grant from the National Prea Resource Center will bring the detention center in compliance with the Prison Rape Elimination Act. The purposes of the act are to eliminate sexual assault, rape, and sexual misconduct.
"It benefits us because we are going to be prepared. We are going to be trained. All of the staff is going to be trained and know exactly how to enforce these new prea rules and regulations," says David Osborne, a jailer at the detention center.
The Daviess County Detention Center is among 50 jails in the US to receive the grant.
