Evansville police continue to search for a man accused of shooting another man during an attempted robbery Friday night.

Officers say 20-year-old Jermaine Felton, who is also known as "Man Man," is the suspect in that shooting on Taylor Avenue.

Evansville police say that happened in the 3500 block of Taylor Avenue. People who live close-by tell 14 News that this type of situation is out of the ordinary for their neighborhood.

"It's shocking. That's the first time hearing about it. It was shocking to me," says Jacqueline Phipps, who lives nearby.

That's how Phipps felt when she heard about Friday night's attempted robbery and shooting. Officers say it happened in the 3500 block of Taylor Avenue, that's at The Arbors at Evansville complex.

Jacqueline lives just to the east of there and says her area is a calm one.

"The area's alright with me. I'm safe over there," Jacqueline says.

A few neighbors didn't want to go on camera, but say they've always felt safe there.

One of those neighbors says she was sleeping when that shooting occurred on Friday night. The woman says she's lived in The Arbors complex for many years. She tells 14 News that she hasn't heard of a situation like this there before and isn't worried about it happening again.

Jacqueline says that while news of the shooting comes as a surprise, it won't change how she lives her life.

"I don't bother nobody, don't nobody bother me," Jacqueline says.

Police are still searching for 20-year-old Jermaine Felton. Anyone with information on Felton, the shooting, or the burglary is asked to call EPD at 436-7979.
