VANCLEAVE, MS (WLOX) -

A Vancleave woman and three children have been released from Ocean Springs Hospital after the SUV they were in ran off the road Thursday morning and into a rain swollen creek. And the two Jackson County Sheriff's deputies who came to their rescue are being called heroes.

The woman was driving down Poticaw Road when she lost control of her vehicle, skidded off the road and into a creek.

As the vehicle began to sink, deputies Johnny Sigalas and Keith Vaughn dove into the water, broke the windows and rescued the family. The woman and kids were put in an ambulance and taken to the hospital.

The rain swollen creek was so deep you could not even see the SUV. The Jackson County Dive Team eventually located the vehicle about 10 feet below the surface, and had it towed out.

The incident is currently under investigation.
