Owensboro's new hospital opens in exactly one month and fire crews were there Wednesday to conduct some safety and training exercises.
These drills let firefighters practice what they'll need to do in the event of an emergency situation.
Crews say it's important that they're familiar with their plan of attack.
Battalion Chief Steve Leonard explains why Wednesday's drills are crucial, especially because of the nature of the building and its size.
"This is a healthcare occupancy, and it's unique in its design and the activities that occur here, and it's also a high-rise, so we want to make sure that we deal with both of those issues in a way that will have a positive outcome in the event that we have an incident," said Battalion Chief Leonard.
Crews toured the hospital about a month ago to get a feel for the building and their major threats.
They say their number one concern is safety for everyone in the hospital.
