A meeting regarding the state's new education standards got heated Monday night in Williamson County.
The argument involves the program known as "Common Core."
Tennessee Education Commissioner Kevin Huffman is traveling through the state to talk about the initiative.
But many parents became angry when they couldn't speak their minds, prompting some to leave the meeting before it ended.
Supporters say the new standards will help prepare students for global competition in the workforce, but opponents say it will do the opposite.
There will be another Common Core forum Tuesday at 8 p.m. at the Cool Springs Embassy Suites.
