Holiday World to be laboratory for USI’s girls-only summer camp

The University of Southern Indiana's GO STEM! Summer Camp helps high school girls overcome barriers and stereotypes faced while preparing for and pursuing STEM-related careers through a four-day summer camp on June 2-6.

Applicants must be entering 9th-12th grade in fall 2013 to attend.

Campers will live in university housing and work with female college students and faculty in the science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) disciplines.

Holiday World & Splashin' Safari amusement park in Santa Claus, Indiana, will be used as a laboratory for experiments and activities in chemistry and nutrition, mathematics, biology, and engineering/applied physics.

Cost is $125 including lodging, all meals, field trip costs, and supplemental learning materials.

Registration information is available at www.swistem.org. The application deadline is April 30.
