Glitch halts online ISTEP testing for Indiana schools

Posted: Updated:

School districts across Indiana have been forced to suspend online ISTEP+ testing because of connectivity issues that kicked off students trying to take the test.

Testing was suspended Monday in districts including Indianapolis, Carmel, West Lafayette and Brownsburg. Schools in Shelby and Tippecanoe counties also reported problems.

Indianapolis Public Schools spokesman John Althardt tells The Indianapolis Star that computer screens froze in some cases and students were kicked out of the system.

West Lafayette Schools Superintendent Rocky Killion tells the Journal & Courier he suspended testing for fifth-graders after the glitch forced students to log back into their computers repeatedly.

Vendor CTB issued a statement saying it was working to resolve the problem.
Schools have until May 10 to complete their ISTEP testing.
