Kentucky police took the community behind the scenes

The public got its chance to get a behind the scenes look at law enforcement on Saturday.

Owensboro Police, Daviess County Sheriff, and Henderson Police gave tours of their vehicles today. Those attending the event in Owensboro also had a change to meet the K9 officers, the Owensboro Police Headquarters, and ask questions they may have.

Organizers say events like this help to break down the barrier between law enforcement and the public.

"It was designed around bringing the community together, meeting our local police officers," says Michael Hathaway with the Owensboro Police Department. "We work for the community, so we want to be able to have a more relaxed atmosphere where they can come out and meet us, and we get a chance to talk with them and have some fun."

The biggest hit of the day was probably the police robot chasing people around the parking lot.
