Gibson County's Bicentennial Celebration

Posted: Updated:
GIBSON CO., IN (WFIE) -

The Gibson County Barn Quilt Trail was started to honor and to celebrate Gibson County's bicentennial birthday.  Currently, more than 130 hand-painted quilt squares are dispersed throughout the area and they can be found on local homes, businesses, and fairgrounds.  The first square to be hung was on display at the county courthouse today.  It was present to commemorate Gibson County's 200th year.

Alan Douglas, the commissioner of Gibson County and the proud owner of two quilt squares, was in awe of the beauty of the Barn Quilt Trail.

"When you drive through the county, you just look up and there is a quilt on display," said Douglas.  "It's just very beautiful to see."

The Barn Quilt Trail is continuing to grow and the community could not be more supportive of it.
