Downtown march to spread awareness on sexual assault

April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month, and with that Albion Fellows Bacon Center held it's 16th Annual Take Back the Night March.

The walk is held to protest against sexual assault and rape. About 40-to-50 people marches from the Casino Aztar Plaza down to the Four Freedoms Monument and back.

Afterwards, there was a candlelight ceremony and celebration of strength for victims of sexual assault.

Participants were welcome to speak out against sexual violence.

"We definitely want to get people out there and be part of the movement and make people aware that this crime is happening every day," says Christina Wicks. "A woman is raped every 23-minutes in the U.S. so we definitely want to be out there to let people know that there's people out there to help and there's people out there that are aware and people that want to make a difference and prevent this from happening."
