Evansville Memorial names new baseball coach

For the first time in 45 years, Evansville Memorial High School will have a baseball coach not named Quentin Merkel. 

School officials have announced that Matt "Rip" Collins has been named to replace Merkel who is retiring at the end of the season.

Collins is a 1990 graduate of Memorial where he lettered in baseball and football.  He was also the Kiwanis award winner in baseball and football his senior year.

He received his Bachelor's degree from Western Kentucky University.

Collins has been involved as an assistant in basketball, football and baseball at Memorial and is currently the varsity assistant with football and the boys reserve basketball coach. 

He currently teaches Physical Education and Drivers Training.
