State police released a photo Friday afternoon of a car they are looking for in connection with the disappearance of an Eastern Connecticut State University student.
Police said 20-year-old Alyssiah Marie Wiley was last seen April 20 at 10 a.m., but officials said she wasn't reported missing until Wednesday.
Police didn't say where Wiley, who is a sophomore at the university, was last seen.
State police say the car they are looking for is a black Nissan Altima with tinted windows and four doors with CT license plate 297-ZOY.
"Yeah, I am worried for her," said roommate Molly Schwartz. "I didn't think it was going to get this serious and frightening. I was up all night with the cops."
However, they said they're concerned for her well-being, and have been searching the campus grounds with dogs as well as interviewing fellow students, friends and family members.
"She said she was going home Friday night and she ended up going home Saturday early morning," Schwartz said.
Friends told Eyewitness News that Wiley had a boyfriend, who drove her places. She did not have a car, friends said.
"He seemed to be a nice gentleman," said former roommate Sharifa Lowen about Wiley's boyfriend, who did not attend ECSU. "He spoke very proper. He was nice to her."
Police would not confirm anything about the boyfriend.
Schwartz added that Wiley, who is a psychology major, was headed home to visit family in West Haven, something she often did.
"We want to thank everyone for their concern and all information will be released through state police," said Wiley's mom. "Alyssiah is a beautiful girl both inside and out."
Investigators have searched Schwartz's and Wiley's room in Occum Hall as well as neighborhoods off campus.
"She is a sweetheart," said student Alexandra Andre, who did community service at a middle school with Wiley last year.
Wiley is described as a black female about 5'6" tall and 150 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. She may be wearing glasses.
ECSU officials said it is an "ongoing investigation." Anyone with information into her whereabouts is asked to the call the ECSU Police Department at 860-465-5310 or state police at 860-537-7500.
