Mt. Vernon home invasion under investigation

POSEY CO., IN (WFIE) -

Authorities in Posey County are searching for three suspects after two adults and a child were held at gunpoint Tuesday night.

Officials say three men entered a mobile home on Lynn Drive in the Mt. Vernon Mobile Home Community by West Elementary School.

Police tell 14 News that they don't believe this was a random robbery. They think this specific mobile home was targeted, though they aren't saying why.

Mt. Vernon's police chief says the initial call about the robbery came just after 8:00 Tuesday night.

The man living in the mobile home, with his girlfriend and her 8-year-old son, says he was hit in the head and that the suspects put guns to all three of their heads, including that 8-year-old, threatening to kill them and asking where the money was.

He tells 14 News they got away with $10,000 that was in a closet.

As the suspects took off, a neighbor was watching.

"They went running just as fast as they could straight across. My mother lives two doors over and I was wondering what they were doing, so I walked over there and I don't know where they went. They just vanished," neighbor Rocky Axton says.

Authorities are still looking out for the three suspects.
