Nearly 2,000 people visited Mesker Park Zoo Sunday to celebrate Earth Day.
Organizers say a main focus of the annual "Party for the Planet" is to teach people the importance of being environmentally friendly.
Kids enjoyed activities like magic shows and exhibits.
Organizers say "rain barrels" were decorated by local non-profit groups and then auctioned off with the money going back to support each of those groups.
"Everybody always says the kids are our future," said Stephanie Sanderson, Visitor Services Curator, Mesker Park Zoo. "We get the message to them and then they go home and get their families to take part in all those earth-friendly activities."
This marks the 8th year for that event.
