Stolen truck leads to attempted ATM robbery in Newburgh

NEWBURGH, IN (WFIE) -

An attempted ATM robbery has taken place in Newburgh.

Newbugh Police say that someone had stolen a truck and a front end loader from Mulzer Crushed Stone, Inc. in Newburgh and had attempted to steal and ATM from Newburgh National Bank on IN-622 around 2:45 A.M..

No money was taken but the ATM is destroyed.

The vehicle has been recovered but there is no suspect as of yet.

Police are investigating the bank while Warrick Sheriff's Department is at the Mulzer Crushed Stone, Inc. investigating.

Surveillance video shows that a white male, possibly between the ages of 20-30-years-old and under 200-lbs.

Video shows that he stole the front-end loader, went back across the street to Mulzer, stole the truck and drove to the bank.

Inside the truck, the man ran the front-end loader into the ATM knocking it over and making it difficult for him to get it on the scoop of the loader so he drove the truck away.

Deputies say they located the truck at an apartment complex off of Pollack Avenue in Evansville and EPD was dispatched there.

14 News spoke with Mulzer Crushed Stone, Inc. Vice President, Jeff Mulzer who says the business is working with police on the investigation and says keys to both vehicles were still at the business Saturday morning and the machinery is always kept locked.
