Evansville Police think there's a connection between a home invasion on Adams Avenue that happened earlier this week and a home invasion robbery on Linwood Avenue in February.
Police say in both cases elderly people were targeted, but that wasn't the only similarity.
EPD says Dennis Anderson forced his way into a home in the 500 block of Adams earlier this week after asking for water.
Once inside, they say he assaulted the 80-year-old homeowner and demanded money but the victim got ahold of a handgun and fired a shot, hitting the suspect.
Then, back in February a similar story when a 72-year-old woman answered his door to find a man asking for water.
Police say the suspect beat her and took her wallet.
They believe that person was Anderson.
"We found similarities in both incidents and the key piece being both times when he knocked on the door, he asked the resident about getting some water," says Sgt. Jason Cullum.
Authorities say Anderson is being treated for a gunshot wound to the abdomen and he'll be arrested as soon as he's released from the hospital.
