A threat "to kill everyone" is posted at King William High School. It has the sheriff's office and state police on high alert.
The King William County school superintendent called to inform parents about the frightening message Thursday afternoon.
"Please know that the school division takes matters like this very seriously and is conducting a thorough investigation, " said superintendent Mark Jones.
The message was found in a room at the high school. It reads "I will kill everyone 4/22/13." It is signed with a satanic image.
"It was terrifying," said a concerned parent. "My daughter's words to me is she was terrified and scared. What do I do? We just had a moment of prayer by text on the telephone."
Many parents were too afraid to show their face on camera, but the eery note has them even more fearful to stay silent.
"We cannot brush it under the rug," said a concerned parent. "We don't know the mentality of the people that pose these type of threats."
The sheriff's office is not taking any chances.
"I think it raises alarm in all of our heads," said Lt. Tim Hixenbaugh. "We have been in contact with state police. We have a good working relationship with them."
But plans to increase security at all county schools falls short for some.
"I probably will not send my daughter to school," said the concerned parent.
"The only thing I can say is as a parent myself and with children in the school system," said Lt. Hixenbaugh. "Have faith in us. We are doing everything that we possibly can."
