A major conflict is brewing at the Hopkins County-Madisonville Public Library.
The Hopkins County-Madisonville Public Library Board is threatening legal action over the control of a $500,000 donation from Glema Mahr.
The large donation has been under the control of the library foundation since 2010. The library board would use the Mahr endowment to pay off over $200,000 in bills for their prospective future location on East Center Street.
"It is frustrating to work as hard as we do and to have such a negative picture painted of us to the community and we realize that it is damaging to the purpose of the library to have that negative news," said Marcella Davis, President of the Hopkins County Library Board.
Attorneys for both parties were unable to be reached or wished to not comment.
