Winter is over, Pothole Blitz begins

Posted: Updated:

Now that the winter weather is finally over, it's time for the city to repair the damage left behind on local roads.

The city is beginning its annual Pothole Blitz and they need your help.

If you see a pothole, you're encouraged to call and report it to the Evansville Department of Transportation.

Street maintenance superintendent Dennis Hudnall tells us that his crews are always keeping their eyes open and that, anymore, it's become a year-round process.

"In the winter time we use a mix called UPM and that sticks in pretty good but as it snows, our plows dig those back out. We have to go back and do them again," Hudnall said. "The two gentlemen that we have on the pothole blitz take it really serious. Once we get a call, we go ahead and get that patched pretty well the same day."

Those within the city limits can report potholes through April 19 by calling the Evansville Department of Transportation at 435-6000 between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m.

If you want to report a pothole on county roads, you can contact the Vanderburgh County Highway Garage at 435-5777 between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m.
