Two people found dead inside Louisville home

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – Louisville Metro Police are investigating the deaths of two people found inside their home in the Highview neighborhood Sunday afternoon.

It all started with a welfare check at the home in the 6600 block of Musket Drive, which is off of Smyrna Parkway and E. Manslick Road. No one answered the door, so officers forced their way inside and made the discovery.

Outside the home, newspapers had been stacking up for a few days. Family and friends said they had not heard from the couple for a few days and some neighbors even noticed an unusual smell near the home.

Police say it's early in the investigation and will only call it a death investigation, but adds that the homicide unit is investigating. Police would not elaborate on if the deaths are suspicious.

Detectives spent hours at the home gathering evidence. Neighbors say it's a scene that's quite unusual in their quiet sub-division.

"I was very shocked to see the [crime scene] tape up. I had seen the lady before when I was walking my dog. It's just a shock to see that," said neighbor Katie Steele.

The coroner has not released the names of the two or how they died. Police believe the couple was in their 40s or 50s.
