Crews will soon be ramping up construction at the Oak Hill-Morgan intersection as an expansion project gets underway.
Digging has already begun at the intersection and engineers at both the state and city levels want to expand the area.
City Engineer Pat Keepes says they've already begun laying new drainage pipe in that area.
Keepes says the city plans to reconstruct Oak Hill Road this summer from Morgan all the way North to Lynch Road.
Keepes also says the new road will include bike lanes and new sidewalks.
Cher Elliott of INDOT says they will be adding new turn lanes at the intersection.
Currently, crews are working at night to keep traffic jams to a minimum and she says the expected completion date for this project is November 1.
"We're going to have a dedicated left turn lane along the entire length, sidewalks, curbs, gutters, new drainage system," says Keepes. "It's really a complete revamping of Oak Hill Road."
IDNOT says the expected completion date for the new drainage at that intersection is April 24.
From there, the actual road work should begin.
