Paradise Road project "anything but" for drivers

Some big changes begin Monday for drivers in Warrick County.

An eight mile stretch of State Road 261 is expected to have motorists dealing with partial closures for more than a year, but this will be the largest so far.

State road 261 will be closed from State Road 66 to the junction of State Road 62.

That will impact five Warrick County schools and several homeowners.

Local traffic will be re-routed using State Road 66, Interstate 164,  and State Road 62.

The major INDOT project will eventually upgrade 261 from three to five lanes, two lanes in each direction, with a center turn lane from SR 66 to Fuquay Road.

From Fuquay, the roadway will be expanded to three lanes,  one lane in each direction and a center turn lane.

Local traffic will be allowed to travel in the area to the point of closure between Plank and Jenner.

There will also be dedicated turn lanes into the Lake Ridge Subdivision.

The roadway is expected to re-open to traffic in November and the entire project is on schedule to be complete next April.
