POSEY CO., IN (WFIE) -

Two people are dead after a shooting late Sunday morning in Posey County.

Authorities tell 14 News that 33-year-old John David Carney and 30-year-old Erica Nicole Davis died in the shooting at their home in the 9000 block of West Street in Stewartsville.

Police and deputies were called to the scene around 11:40 a.m. and were there for over five hours Sunday afternoon, trying to figure out how Carney and Davis, who lived together and had three kids, ended up involved in the shooting.

Sheriff Greg Oeth says Davis called her mother to tell her what was going on. He says Davis' sister overheard that conversation and called 911.

Oeth also says the two were found dead inside the home, from apparent gun shot wounds.

Sheriff Oeth says none of Davis' and Carney's children were home when this all happened.

Authorities are still investigating to find the motivation for the shooting.
