LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – A pedestrian was struck and killed while walking on Interstate 65 near downtown.

According to MetroSafe, the incident was reported at 10:45 p.m. in the northbound lanes just before the Broadway exit.

The vehicle involved did stop and Louisville Metro Police talked with the driver. It is unknown why the person hit, described by LMPD as a white man in his 20's, was walking on I-65. His name has not been released.

Northbound I-65 traffic was being diverted at the Jackson Street exit. Drivers could follow Jackson Street into downtown Louisville and use Muhammad Ali Boulevard to reenter I-65.
