Safely dispose of documents at Community Shred Day
NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -
Anyone needing to safely dispose of some sensitive documents or old prescription drugs can do it Saturday at LP Field during the biannual Community Shred Day.
The event, sponsored by the Metro Police Department, Crime Stoppers and the Tennessee Department of Consumer Affairs, is in its fourth year.
For a $5 tax-deductible donation to Crime Stoppers, participants can shred paper documents they no longer want or need, and detectives with the department's fraud unit will be on hand to answer any questions about preventing identity theft.
Organizers will also properly dispose of those outdated or unused medications, rather than the common yet hazardous method of tossing them in household trash or flushing them down a toilet.
The event runs from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the main LP Field parking lot.
