Vectren customers may be hot over their latest heating bill thanks to a colder than normal March.
Some could expect to pay a lot more than usual.
Vectren says the meters are showing big numbers for the month of March and that means there could be big increases when customers get their April natural gas bills.
They say that this March was 260% colder than March 2012 and 32% colder than normal.
That means furnaces ran longer, and more often eating up lots more natural gas than in years past.
Chase Kelly with Vectren says customers should be prepared when the bill comes in the mail.
"It will likely be around $10-$20 higher on the gas portion of the bill than you're used to seeing," says Kelly. "So again, it's not staggering numbers but it's a little something that's unexpected."
If the bill comes and it's too much to pay, Vectren says it has payment arrangements to help manage those costs.
April and May are usually easier on the budget before the warmer summer months start kicking on the AC.
