SAN TAN VALLEY, AZ (CBS5) -
A woman who crashed into the back of a Pinal County school bus early Thursday morning was speeding and may have been under the influence of drugs, according to authorities.
The Pinal County Sheriff's Office said Shiree Kalectaca, 40, appeared to be on drugs and told deputies that she had taken morphine earlier in the morning.
A Pinal County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman said none of the eight students on the bus were injured. News helicopter video showed the woman driver of the SUV walking around near her vehicle, but the woman was taken to a nearby hospital as a precaution and is expected to be OK.
The crash happened just before 7 a.m. near Quail Run Lane and Bella Vista Road.
PCSO said a blood sample was sent to the Arizona Department of Public Safety to test for drugs. Pending the results, the driver will faces charges of driving while impaired by a drug and reckless driving, PCSO said.
