Police: Daughter's boyfriend murdered New Franklin couple

NEW FRANKLIN, OH (WOIO) -

Police say they have arrested the 18-year-old boyfriend of a murdered New Franklin couple's daughter.

Shawn Eric Ford, Jr. was charged Thursday with murder, robbery and grand theft for the brutal attack on his girlfriend's parents.

New Franklin Police say Ford beat Jeffrey and Margaret Schobert to death with a sledgehammer.

The couple was found murdered in their Rex Lake Drive home Tuesday afternoon by a construction crew.  The Schobert's had been dead in the home for several hours.

Ford lives in Akron, but was in the Portage County jail on unrelated charges when charged with the murders.

Jeffrey Schobert was a highly regarded lawyer with an Akron law firm. His specialty was defending doctors and hospitals against malpractice suits. His wife was active in several civic organizations.

    A Henderson woman was arrested on drug trafficking charges. Police say they found 32-year-old Seana Schwartz hiding under a bed in an apartment on Fair Street.
