Sgt. Cable to be honored on Owensboro monument

The Owensboro-Daviess County Veterans Organization committee is going to engrave Sgt. Michael Cable's name on the Enduring Freedom War Monument by the Sports Center.

The committee says Cable's name will be sand blasted into the monument after a company in Madisonville makes a template.

"Like Abraham Lincoln said, 'A nation honors it's hero long endure.' If it wasn't for our soldiers we wouldn't be here and understanding what their freedom is about because they paid for it," said retired Master Sgt. James Goodall.

The last name that was engraved on the monument was private first class Brandon Mullin's name in September of 2011.
