Mt. Vernon singers headed to the Big Apple

It's from Posey County to the Big Apple for some Mt. Vernon students this weekend.

They are headed to New York City for a concert held at the famous Avery Fisher Hall.

The group of more than 20 choir students will sing a song that's done in 12 different languages.

Whether it's their first trip to new York or not, the students tell us they can't wait.

"I've looked forward to it for so long. From like August, and now it's actually finally here and it's really weird thinking this is finally going to happen. These are people that I've never met before. I don't know them. We're all coming together for this one big event and it's just a really neat thought," choir member, Michelle Huff said.

"It's like a big melting pot of culture. We've got mandarin, Sanskrit, a whole bunch of different languages in there. It sounds really beautiful. It's really good," another choir member, Taylor Burden said.

The students will perform Sunday afternoon, along with a hundred other kids from as far as California and even England.
