The 40th Annual Citizen's Academy kicks off tonight in Evansville.
For the next 8 weeks some local residents will get a unique look inside the daily lives of Evansville Police Department's officers.
Participants will visit the K-9 unit, Firearms, SWAT, Crime Scene, Narcotics, the Sex Crime unit, Domestic Violence and the Street Gang Task Force.
Meanwhile, as people are going through the program, they are able to voice their concerns to officers as well as learn why EPD Makes certain decisions.
The main goal is to increase communication and understanding.
